TESTIMONIALS

Forgebank Films did a cracking job producing some short films that highlighted the winners of our Awards Ceremony. With only a basic brief they helped ordinary people to tell their stories in a natural and engaging way, and these films are now one of the highlights of our promotional portfolio,

James Somerville, energy services co-ordinator, LESS

“Alison and Frances produced 13 films for our online course on food security. They are intelligent film makers, who really worked to understand what we were trying to achieve, and added hugely to our original concept.  They dealt with constantly changing goalposts, tight deadlines and an ever expanding project, with good humour and flair.”

Professor Bill Davies, CBE, Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University

“Brilliant film makers with a sensitive touch – they got lots of us to say just the right things and did a fantastic edit to put over exactly the right message,”

Fiona Frank, Director, Green Elephant Cooperative, Halton Mill.

“I commisioned Forgebank Films to make a film about a local man who was a Holocaust Survivor. The film makers brought a professionalism, intelligence, understanding and compassion resulting in a film which honours the life story and educates about the Holocaust in a profound way. The use of appropriate and well researched imagery, evocative music and interviews has created a film which is powerful in its gentleness and generosity. Without doubt I would use Forgebank Films again.”

Liz Neat, National Coalition Building Institute, Lancashire.

“Frances is fantastic to work with which is why we have twice chosen Forgebank Films to work with us on our major annual conference Ecosystem Services Come to Town, and on our awards ceremonies. She also produced a fantastic film about our Green Roof Training Programme”

Blanche Cameron, founding director, RESET

“In 2003 Alison Cahn directed me in a BBC documentary ‘When Michael Portillo became a single mum.’  For a week I took over the parenting role from a single mother, looking after her four children for a week on a budget of £80. The film was ground-breaking at the time although it has since been much copied.  It was also complicated to shoot around the clock with two crews and involved difficult editorial issues. What emerged from Alison’s skilful edit was a film that was poignant and humorous, which ten years later is still remembered,”

Michael Portillo, TV presenter and former cabinet minister

“The videos that Frances produced and edited to publicise the Lancaster Cohousing project were one of the reasons we contacted the group to find out about joining — they told us the story of the project really effectively”

Jo Lyon, resident, Lancaster Cohousing
